Japan is expected to seek lower duties on various cars sold to Peru; whereas it is expected Peru will push for better access to Japan’s farm and fisheries markets.

More to the point, Peru has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan. These relations are being patched up after Japan refused to extradite former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori. Fujimori fled to Japan in 2000 at the same time as embroiled in a corruption scandal. He was later arrested in Chile while trying to engineer a political comeback. Currently he is in prison. Many think, this agreement make better impact between two countries commerce and trade.
